Privacy & Audience Measurement

Everyday Lives is designed to avoid unnecessary collection of personal information and does not use visitor information to build advertising profiles.

Current audience measurement

The current website application does not include a dedicated audience-analytics layer. Hosting and content-delivery services may process limited technical information needed to deliver, secure and operate the site.

Search and interactive features

Search terms and map interactions are used to provide the requested website function. The archive does not intentionally use those interactions to create advertising or behavioural profiles.

Research lists

The Research List feature stores only the selected public archive catalogue identifiers in the visitor's browser local storage on that device. The list is not an account, is not synchronized to the archive, and is not transmitted to Everyday Lives merely because photographs are added or removed.

Institutional inquiry intake

The institutional inquiry page prepares a structured research, curatorial, educational, rights, documentary or archive inquiry in the visitor's browser. Information entered into that form is not submitted to an Everyday Lives database. The form can create a local text copy of the inquiry and can open the visitor's email application with the entered information and selected published archive identifiers included in a draft message.

The archive receives the inquiry information only if the visitor chooses to send the email. The correspondence reference generated by the page is for organizing the message and does not prove receipt, permission, licensing or access approval.

Contributions by email

Email contributions are currently available. If you choose to send a contribution, the archive receives the information you include in that message, such as your email address, name if provided, documentary information, references and any attachments you choose to send. That information is used to review the contribution, preserve relevant provenance and contact you for clarification where appropriate.

The website contribution form itself remains disabled. No information entered into that preview form is submitted through the website.

Future features

If aggregate audience analytics, a live web contribution form, newsletters, commerce, audio or video measurement are activated later, this page will be updated to describe the services actually in use, the information they process, and any available privacy choices.
